Tuesday Newsletter – 26th March 2019

Hereford and Hexham today with a couple of trackers going in the (16.10) at the latter. Hattons Hill has been a real disappointment this term and looks well handicapped on old form but certainly would prefer more cut. The alternative at a monster 16’s is Maurice Barnes trained Apache Pilot. Another with sketcyh form, he does have an excellent record when running over the 3m at this track. He’s our one to throw a dart with some small shrapnel as we await the impending flat.

Yesterday’s intro notes mention, Lee Side Lady managed a double digit priced 2nd in the Mares race at Wincanton.

Timeform is for the early evening meeting at Wolves.

5.00 Betway Live Casino Handicap (6) 1m5f219y

Timeform Top Rated
77 8. TOP ROCK TALULA Warren Greatrex Thomas Greatrex (5)
76 3. EBQAA James Unett David Probert
76 5. TOUR DE PARIS Alan King Tom Marquand

Analyst’s Verdict:
Top Rock Talula and Tour de Paris are a pair of 4-y-os with progressive profiles at a low level and rate the pair to focus on. The former shaped as if this greater test of stamina will suit when staying on for second at Lingfield (12f) 39 days ago and is narrowly favoured to come out on top. Geordielad can also hit the frame.

5.30 Betway Casino Handicap (5) 5f21y

Timeform Top Rated
95 4. A SURE WELCOME John Spearing Luke Morris
94 1. AMAZING GRAZING Rebecca Bastiman Daniel Tudhope
94 3. MIRACLE WORKS Robert Cowell Tom Marquand

Analyst’s Verdict:
A competitive race for the grade, with Miracle Works taken to add to his win first time up for Robert Cowell given the impressive manner of that success. A Sure Welcome is building up a fine record at Wolverhampton and has to be feared. Amazing Grazing should also go well again with Danny Tudhope back up.

6.00 Betway Handicap (5) 1m1f104y

Timeform Top Rated
87p 6. ICONIC GIRL Andrew Balding David Probert
86 5. RUBENSIAN David Simcock Dylan Hogan (5)
85 1. BEATBYBEATBYBEAT Antony Brittain Cam Hardie

Analyst’s Verdict:
Iconic Girl looks a likely improver now going handicapping stepped up in trip and could come out on top. Zorawar is a big player back in a handicap, while Captain Pugwash and Amy Murphy’s new recruit Movie Star could also go well.

6.30 Ladbrokes Home of The Odds Boost Novice Median Auction Stakes (5) 1m1f104y

Timeform Top Rated

81 2. DARK MIRACLE Marco Botti Daniel Muscutt
78p 4. JUST BENJAMIN William Haggas Liam Jones
63p 1. CLAP YOUR HANDS David Simcock Callum Shepherd

Analyst’s Verdict:
Dark Miracle ran well at Kempton when last seen and seems sure to have more to offer this year, so is preferred to Just Benjamin and newcomer Yellow Label.

7.00 Ladbrokes Handicap (4) 1m142y

Timeform Top Rated
98 4. ASSIMILATION Ed Walker Liam Keniry
96p 1. HAVANA ROCKET Andrew Balding Oisin Murphy
93p 2. SELF ASSESSMENT K. R. Burke Ben Curtis

Analyst’s Verdict:
There was much to like about the way in which Havana Rocket dispatched his rivals from the front at Newcastle in January and, with the likelihood of more to come now pitched into a handicap, he is taken to follow up. Next on the list is Assimilation, who has found just one too good on each of his 3 starts this year. Self Assessment and the filly Wanaasah are also open to improvement.

7.30 Sun Racing No1 Racing Site Novice Stakes (5) 7f36y

Timeform Top Rated
89 3. JACKSTAR Tom Dascombe Richard Kingscote
77p 11. SHAMKHA Richard Hannon Fergus Sweeney
76p 12. SOUL SEARCHING James Tate Oisin Murphy

Analyst’s Verdict:
Jackstar made a good impression when making a winning debut over the minimum trip at Newmarket last spring, leading on bridle over 1f out and keeping on well. The fact he has been absent since is a slight concern but it would come as no surprise to see him ready to roll on return. Soul Searching and Shamkha are feared most, ahead of newcomers Oasis Prince and Bobby Shaft.
