Tuesday Newsletter – 29th January 2019

Longhousesignorina won for Venetia Williams at Ludlow from the intro notes and there was also a nice advised 7/1 winner for members with Hijram for Henry Oliver. As we suggested yesterday, he managed  to stick two fingers up at the establishment regarding his £140 ‘Wavegate’ fine on the weekend with his sole runner of the day.

Oliver is bang in form at the moment and goes into battle with a sole runner at Lingfield (16.15) with Hard To Forget who is likely to head the betting being a consistent sort over the last 2 seasons in this class & distance. Whilst up at Newcastle, he has a couple out with yesterday’s successful claimer, Jason Dixon up top of Another Theatre (13.20). Both those are on at less than our tissue but offer the lumpers something to consider. Arthur Mac heads up his final trio (13.55) and another with an excellent chance in the novice hurdle.

We’ve a couple for members below.

1.30 EBF Mares’ Intermediate Open National Hunt Flat (Qualifier) (5) 2m

Timeform Top Rated:
98 7. SORBET Lucy Wadham Leighton Aspell
93 8. TOPS NO William Muir Brendan Powell
89 3. FATIMA BLUSH Jamie Snowden Sam Twiston-Davies

Analyst’s Verdict:
Burren Walk hails from a talented family, represents a leading yard and is bred to be suited by this test of speed on the AW (dam 1½m winner) so she could easily be up to making a winning debut. Sorbet and Tops No are perhaps the pick of those with experience.

2.05 Starsports.Bet Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (4) 2m

Timeform Top Rated:
128 1. CODED MESSAGE Ben Case Kielan Woods
127 2. ETAMINE DU COCHET Dan Skelton Harry Skelton

Analyst’s Verdict:
Coded Message seems sure to benefit from a return to this trip so gets the nod over Huntingdon-scorer Etamine du Cochet. Bumper-winner Destinee Royale is also of interest now going hurdling after wind surgery.

2.40 Starsports.Bet Handicap Chase (5) 2m7f110y

Timeform Top Rated:
113 3. TOP AND DROP Venetia Williams Charlie Deutsch
112 11. BIG TIME FRANK Polly Gundry James Best
111 5. THE BOSS’S DREAM Neil King Bryony Frost

Analyst’s Verdict:
Pine Warbler ran his best race in this sphere on his first outing since a breathing operation when runner-up at Uttoxeter on comeback 4 weeks ago and remains lightly raced for his age. He shades the vote over Chepstow-winner Top And Drop and the in-form Big Time Frank.

3.15 Starsports.Bet Handicap Hurdle (4) 2m

Timeform Top Rated:
129 6. TARRONA Alan Phillips Sean Bowen
128 7. SHE’S GINA Seamus Mullins Daniel Sansom (5)
127 2. CLAYTON Gary Moore Niall Houlihan (10)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Cilaos Glace is open to improvement now handicapping and looks set for a big run back at this venue. Clayton is in a good run of form here at Lingfield and can go well again with his young rider taking off the full 10 lb allowed. The Cannister Man and On The Rox are also respected in a tight heat.

3.45 Call Star Sports On 08000 521 321 Handicap Chase (4) 2m

Timeform Top Rated:
129 2. SAVELLO Dan Skelton Harry Skelton
127 3. VOCALISER Robin Dickin Charlie Poste
127 8. LE CAPRICIEUX Gary Moore Jamie Moore

Analyst’s Verdict:
An intriguing handicap with a chance taken on Vocaliser. Robin Dickin’s charge ran his best race of the campaign when fourth at Sandown earlier this month and, now operating 3 lb below his last winning mark, he could represent a spot of value. Blinkers may well help Le Capricieux and he is feared, ahead of Broughtons Rhythm and veteran Savello.

4.15 Call Star Sports On 08000 521 321 Handicap Hurdle (5) 2m3f110y

Timeform Top Rated:
110 10. KASTANI BEACH Seamus Mullins Kevin Jones (3)
107 8. SIXTIES IDOL Sheena West Marc Goldstein
106 2. GOLDSLINGER Gary Moore Jamie Moore

Analyst’s Verdict:
A 7 lb rise for Kastani Beach‘s wide-margin C&D win a fortnight ago could prove lenient and he’s taken to follow up. The unexposed Hard To Forget can build on his Market Rasen handicap debut third, while Sixties Idol is back to the mark he won off at Fontwell last summer. A market move for handicap newcomers from good yards Rodeo Dodo and/or Newlands Cross would also see them enter the reckoning.
