No joy yesterday as Big Country benefited from the absence of pace in the Zetland line up and made all under De Sousa at Redcar yesterday.

Not much ‘value’ about today for us in terms of our EW selections…Merry Banter would have been on the radar at Redcar 16.00 if we could have got anywhere near 5’s – he looks to be one who should go close on the back of getting back round late 70’s after spending last term rated up at 85. He’s one for the lumpers looking to take on Carlton Frankie who Mick Easterby gets out quickly in headgear after the run behind Mr Lupton on Saturday.

All in all a quiet day and we’ll just post Timeform up for Brighton this evening

5.50 Injured Jockeys Fund Handicap (6) 6f210y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Medici Oro has a race in him from this sort of mark judged on his Bath third and gets the vote. Felstead Knight could take a hand in a first-time visor having been well backed on his handicap debut at Chepstow last time. River Rule was second to a thriving winner here 3 weeks ago and also needs considering.

Timeform Top Rated:
76 5. MEDICI ORO David Brown Jason Watson (5)
75 10. RIVER RULE Tony Carroll Luke Morris
75 11. FOLLOWING BREEZE Jim Boyle Charlie Bennett (3)

6.20 Weatherbys Stallion Book Handicap (4) 6f210y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Mamillius ran well behind the winning-machine Captain Lars in a Lingfield claimer last time and has been given a big chance in the weights now back in a handicap. Black Caesar and Good Luck Charm are closely matched again and seem sure to be winning more races at Brighton this summer.

Timeform Top Rated:
97 5. GOOD LUCK CHARM Gary Moore Hector Crouch
96 6. ARCTIC SEA Paul Cole Raul Da Silva
95+ 7. SARANGOO Malcolm Saunders John Egan

6.50 Racing Welfare Confined Novice Stakes (5) 7f211y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Killdeer competed in what turned out to be a very deep minor race at Yarmouth on debut a month ago, and though he ultimately achieved little in form terms, he showed clear ability and is open to significant progress. Orsera and Effervescence set the standard.

Timeform Top Rated:
88p 1. ORSERA Peter Chapple-Hyam Jack Mitchell
86 7. EFFERVESCENCE James Tate Luke Morris
84 4. THE EMPEROR WITHIN Martin Smith Hector Crouch

7.20 Streamline Taxis Support The Martlets Hospice Handicap (5) 1m1f207y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Stormingin continues in fine form for his new yard and looks to have been found a good opportunity to resume winning ways. Sussex Girl could be the danger with a first run in 6 months under her belt.

Timeform Top Rated:
92 2. STORMINGIN Gary Moore Hector Crouch
91 3. ARCHIMENTO Philip Hide Jason Watson (5)
89 5. SETTLE PETAL Pat Phelan Sophie Ralston (7)

7.50 Happy Birthday Mary Handicap (6) 1m1f207y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Roy Rocket found only one too good in a 0-70 at this venue 3 weeks ago and this course regular looks ready to strike again now down in class. Windsorlot and Rocksette also finished second last time and can give the selection most to think about.

Timeform Top Rated:
77 3. ROY ROCKET John Berry John Egan
76 1. WINDSORLOT Tony Carroll George Downing
75 5. ROCKSETTE Philip Hide Jason Watson (5)

8.20 Lovefairs Vintage Fair 26 August Handicap (6) 7f211y

Analyst’s Verdict:
The consistent Sharp Operator produced a career-best on just his second start over this trip when landing a C&D handicap in decisive fashion 3 weeks ago. Having gone up just 3 lb for that, he should again take the measure of Baby Gal. With Approval may well reverse last-timeout C&D placings with Kaaber and prove best of the rest.

Timeform Top Rated:
78 8. SHARP OPERATOR Charlie Wallis William Carson
77 9. BABY GAL Jim Boyle Pat Cosgrave
76 10. BIG AMIGO Daniel Loughnane Hector Crouch

8.50 Orbital 29 June Handicap (5) 5f215y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Titus Secret returns with his yard among the winners and is taken to continue his good record at Brighton with a successful reappearance. The veteran Swiss Cross is feared most ahead of Flowing Clarets.

Timeform Top Rated:
87 3. TITUS SECRET Malcolm Saunders John Egan
85+ 5. SWISS CROSS Phil McEntee Nicola Currie (5)
84 7. FLOWING CLARETS John Bridger Luke Morris

Check these guys out if you haven't already heard of them!

We think you should check out the service from the guys from Cleeve – they target higher end c2+ than ourselves and have got off to a good start this season. Have a look around their site linked below with a past results visible. Our selections shouldn’t clash due to the nature of races we tend to get involved with and should be a nice complimentary and personal service from Nick & the guys to run alongside our own this summer.
