We managed an 8/1 placed slot with our members selection yesterday as Christmas Night carried on the his excellent record in not being out of the paces in 7 runs in 2018. Outside of that, from the intro notes…..previous winner Ice Age got back into the winners enclosure at Windsor with a lumping price 7/4 and Julie Camacho’s Brockholes just lost out in a close finish to the Fahey favourite at Ponty.

There’s not a whole load of interest today….at Brighton we had had a nice winner with Stormbound last year over this C&D, he goes in the 14.30 and with Like Morris up top entitled to have come on for his seasonal run……..he’s  wipes yer face 5/1 in a 6 runner that we will just leave alone.

We’ve just one for members at Hamilton for today, with the speedmeisters views on the NH at Stratford below on what is generally a poor days fayre.

For those on the £1k to £10k challenge, it’s been 3 months of incremental profits…….our bank has grown by over 90% with an ROI of over 39%….current stakes are now £23.93 EW

6.30 Racing Welfare Racing Staff Week Maiden Hurdle (4) 2m70y

Timeform Top Rated
138§ 3. HATCHER Dan Skelton Harry Skelton
128p 4. HENRY SMITH Dr Richard Newland Sam Twiston-Davies
123 9. D’WATERSIDE David Loughnane Alain Cawley

Analyst’s Verdict:
Useful Flat performer Carntop found the level of competition too hot in the Grade 2 Dovecote at Kempton in February, but should do a lot better with his sights now lowered so he receives the vote. Henry Smith looks sure to win races over hurdles this summer and is feared most along with Hatcher, who isn’t the most straightforward but ought to be on the premises again.

7.00 BH & HPA Heart of England Novices’ Handicap Chase (4) 2¾m125y

Timeform Top Rated
131 5. CAFE AU LAIT Dan Skelton Harry Skelton
128 2. SOUPY SOUPS Neil Mulholland Robert Dunne
118+ 1. BIRCH HILL Sophie Leech A. P. Heskin

Analyst’s Verdict:
Born For War showed much-improved form when second on handicap debut over hurdles last time and, given he’s a talented ex-pointer, there should be a fair bit more to come now embarking on a chasing career. He’s a confident choice to get the better of the potentially well-treated Birch Hill with Boss Mans Ladder another to consider on chasing debut.

7.30 Avonvale Equine Practice 50th Anniversary Handicap Chase (3) 2m213y

Timeform Top Rated
145 3. ROYAL PLAZA Olly Murphy Richard Johnson
143 1. VOSNE ROMANEE Dr Richard Newland Sam Twiston-Davies
142 2. PEARLS LEGEND John Spearing Nico de Boinville

Analyst’s Verdict:
Vosne Romanee ended last season a shade below his best, but he appeals as the type to bounce back, especially with his yard thriving at present. Royal Plaza proved better than ever under a positive ride when winning at Fontwell last month so has to be respected bidding to follow-up, with the in-form Pearls Legend another to consider.

8.00 Wheaton Lamb & Burrows Handicap Hurdle (4) 2¾m7y

Timeform Top Rated
122 6. GLANVILLES GUEST Nick Mitchell Jack Sherwood (3)
121 1. GOOD TRADITION Donald McCain Harry Stock (5)
119 2. BRIGHT TOMORROW Warren Greatrex Richard Johnson

Analyst’s Verdict:
Glanvilles Guest has gone up 7 lb for her Newton Abbot success last month, yet the manner of that victory suggested there may yet be more in the offing, and she looks worth chancing to follow up given her low-mileage profile. Good Tradition is proving consistent and is feared, ahead of Bright Tomorrow.

8.30 H. L. Barnes Handicap Chase (3) 2m3f98y

Timeform Top Rated
141 1. EXITAS Phil Middleton Mr Tommie M. O’Brien (5)
140§ 6. FOREVER MY FRIEND Peter Bowen Sean Bowen
138? 7. COMPADRE Jonjo O’Neill Richie McLernon

Analyst’s Verdict:
Altiepix and Forever My Friend know their way around this track and make plenty of appeal from a handicapping perspective, so they’re taken against the field in this tightly-knit handicap chase in which all can be given some sort of chance. Our Three Sons, one of the least exposed, is another one to consider.

9.00 BGC Racing Standard National Hunt Flat (Conditional Jockeys’ And Amateur Riders’) (4) 2m70y

Timeform Top Rated
106 7. THIS LOVELY LADY Olly Murphy Mr Alex Ferguson (7)
97 8. PAC IT IN David Weston Mr Tommie M. O’Brien (5)
96 2. LEAVING HOME Peter Bowen James Bowen

Analyst’s Verdict:
Donald McCain has his string in good order, so a chance is taken on Noah And The Ark, who made his second start between the flags a winning one in April, without the benefit of market clues. Fellow point scorer Templepark makes a good deal of appeal also and is feared, along with This Lovely Lady.
