2.15 Acorns Children’s Hospice Novices’ Hurdle (4) 2¼m148y

Timeform Top Rated:
136 3. ACCORD David Bridgwater Tom Scudamore
131p 1. DJIN CONTI Harry Whittington Gavin Sheehan
129p 2. HENRY SMITH Dr Richard Newland Sam Twiston-Davies

Analyst’s Verdict:
Djin Conti and Henry Smith look progressive young hurdlers and make the most appeal, with marginal preference for the former. Accord has the form to get involved too now returned to hurdles on his comeback.

2.50 Equine Products Novices’ Handicap Chase (5) 2¾m125y

Timeform Top Rated:
112 4. TORHOUSEMUIR Sam Thomas Richard Patrick (3)
111 5. SMOKING DIXIE Warren Greatrex Richard Johnson
110 3. OVERTOUJAY Charles Pogson Robert Dunne

Analyst’s Verdict:
Low-grade stuff and Overtoujay‘s 4 placed efforts from 5 runs over fences this season stand out in the context of the race and he’s taken to strike. Courtlands Prince is earmarked as the chief danger ahead of Torhousemuir.

3.20 Hibbert Family Handicap Hurdle (3) 2m70y

Timeform Top Rated:
135 2. LOVATO Dr Richard Newland Sam Twiston-Davies
134 3. CAPE CASTER Evan Williams Adam Wedge
132 1. BEACH BREAK Donald McCain Brian Hughes

Analyst’s Verdict:
Lovato was let down by his jumping on final start last year, but he’s better judged on his progressive novice form and his lofty Flat rating suggests this mark shouldn’t be beyond him. The hat-trick seeking Beach Break is feared most.

3.55 Stuart Stanley Supporting Acorns Children’s Hospice Handicap Chase (3) 2m3f98y

Timeform Top Rated:
153+ 1. WELLS DE LUNE Peter Bowen Sean Bowen
151 3. A LITTLE MAGIC Jonjo O’Neill Aidan Coleman
151 6. SAM RED Dan Skelton Harry Skelton

Analyst’s Verdict:
The thriving Wells de Lune is away from Cartmel and is racing off a 15 lb higher mark than for his latest success last week, but he’s up against rivals with something to prove for one reason or another so is taken to land the 5-timer. Sam Red is potentially well treated on return so is feared most.

4.30 Jessica Wilcox Race To The Rainbow Handicap Hurdle (4) 2¾m7y

Timeform Top Rated:
125 7. MACKSVILLE James Eustace Jack Quinlan
124+ 3. KNIGHT COMMANDER Steve Flook Richard Johnson
123 5. DANCEINTOTHELIGHT Donald McCain Miss Abbie McCain (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Macksville is the least exposed in this line-up, and with the possibility of more to come now up in trip, he receives the vote. Knight Commander shaped as if as good as ever in first-time blinkers and tongue tie last month so is interesting having his first start for a new yard. Mr Caffrey arrives in decent nick and is another to consider.

5.05 Bet At racinguk.com Mares’ Handicap Hurdle (5) 2¼m148y

Timeform Top Rated:
110p 2. HOPONANDSEE Nigel Twiston-Davies Sam Twiston-Davies
109 3. VISAGE BLANC Graeme McPherson Kielan Woods
109 5. SCOTSBROOK NIGHT Shaun Lycett Marc Goldstein

Analyst’s Verdict:
Hoponandsee got it right at the second attempt for Nigel Twiston-Davies at Newton Abbot, seeing off Versifier in the process, and given her bumper form, there should be more to come from her over hurdles. Scotsbrook Night was impressive over this C&D recently and completes the shortlist.
