Wednesday – 12th December 2018

A better than wipes yer face 2nd place with Jeremy Scott trained BLUE APRIL who finished 2nd to one that had finished 42l adrift on seasonal debut – quite where these improvements come beggars belief….or does it!!!

There’s nothing of note today – Leicester will be running firm and perhaps Echo Express offers something for the lumpers at Hexham in the (14.50). He was beaten easily by Le Frank on seasonal debut  who’d had the benefit of a seasonal outing. Nick Richards string are in better form now but this has gone a 7 runner and not of EW value.

11.40 Betway Boost Handicap (5) 1½m

Timeform Top Rated:
93 4. FEARSOME Nick Littmoden Adam Kirby
91 11. HACKBRIDGE Pat Phelan Paddy Bradley (3)
90 2. DANGEROUS ENDS Brett Johnson Rossa Ryan

Analyst’s Verdict:
The vote goes to Fearsome, who has had a good little stint hurdling and returns to this code on a potentially handy mark. Dono di Dio and Hackbridge arrive on the up so must also enter the reckoning.

12.10 Follow Top Tipsters At Sun Racing Handicap (4) 1m1y

Timeform Top Rated:
95 9. AMBIENT Jane Chapple-Hyam John Egan
94+ 11. CENTRAL CITY Ian Williams Jim Crowley
94 4. SIX STRINGS Dean Ivory Robert Winston

Analyst’s Verdict:
Matterhorn has a useful pedigree and is open to further progress now venturing into handicaps. He gets the nod but there are plenty of dangers, with Family Fortunes, Ambient and Central City all respected.

12.40 Sun Racing Top Tips And Previews Selling Handicap (6) 7f1y

Timeform Top Rated:
82 4. DEEDS NOT WORDS Michael Wigham Franny Norton
81 2. FIELDSMAN David C. Griffiths Stevie Donohoe
80 8. SWISS CROSS Phil McEntee Grace McEntee (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Mr Andros has shown enough recently to suggest his turn might be near so he receives the vote in a tricky selling handicap. Deeds Not Words didn’t have much luck here last week and needs respecting for all he remains unproven at this trip. Philamundo could also have a say if able to back up his comeback run.

1.10 sunracing.co.uk Handicap (3) 7f1y

Timeform Top Rated:
113 8. SWORD EXCEED Ivan Furtado Luke Morris
112 2. KEYSER SOZE Richard Spencer Tom Queally
112 7. SWIFT APPROVAL Stuart Williams Sean Levey

Analyst’s Verdict:
Having won his previous AW start, Keyser Soze was an eye-catcher at Kempton when last seen in October and there are certainly races to be won with him from this sort of mark. Sword Exceed can have his last run overlooked and he is feared, while we likely haven’t seen the best of Swiss Knight yet.

1.40 Betway Novice Stakes (5) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
100 4. MAINSAIL ATLANTIC James Fanshawe Adam Kirby
93p 1. MILITARY LAW John Gosden Nicky Mackay
74p 7. QUEEN OF PARIS William Knight Martin Harley

Analyst’s Verdict:
Military Law and Mainsail Atlantic appear to be the pair to concentrate on. The former hasn’t been seen since winning his maiden in October last year, but that form has worked out extremely well, so he edges the vote.

2.10 Betway Heed Your Hunch Handicap (6) (D.I) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
82 4. BAN SHOOF Gary Moore Hector Crouch
81 3. DIVINE MESSENGER Emma Owen Adam Kirby
80+ 5. PACIFIC SALT Pam Sly Callum Shepherd

Analyst’s Verdict:
Ban Shoof ran up to his best when caught in the final strides at Kempton last month and could be about to strike. Settle Petal arrives on the back of a career-best win over this C&D and is next best ahead of improving 3-y-o Mood For Mischief.

2.40 Betway Heed Your Hunch Handicap (6) (D.II) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
83 7. PIVOTAL FLAME Pat Phelan Paddy Bradley (3)
81 8. POWER HOME Denis Coakley Luke Morris
80 1. RAKEMATIZ Brett Johnson Ray Dawson (5)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Pivotal Flame reacted really well to a first-time visor when a narrow second here a week ago, and representing a yard in good form, is taken to go one better from the same mark. Power Home also found only one too good and is second choice, with Rakematiz the pick of the remainder.

3.10 Sun Racing All-Weather ‘Hands And Heels’ Apprentice Handicap (6) 1m1y

Timeform Top Rated:
76 8. BIG BAD LOL Ed Walker Oliver Stammers
75 1. CHETAN Tony Carroll Toby Eley
74 2. BARRSBROOK Gary Moore Rhys Clutterbuck (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Big Bad Lol has knocked on the door on each of his last 5 starts, including when a close-up third over C&D 3 weeks ago and he is fancied to come out on top this time. Chetan was also in good form when last seen and is feared, whilst Superego rates a likely improver now handicapping for Andrew Balding.
