Day 2 of Royal Ascot with the feature in our eyes being the Royal Hunt Cup. It’s race where often one’s we have backed as improving late 3 & 4yo’s graduate to, and looking at this card there’s just two of note that we have previously backed.

Kynren was backed by us last term after being by a poor draw in the season’s opening Spring Mile at Donny. He’s always around the premises on these big Heritage handicaps and owner John Elliot’s charge and his legion of Bishop Auckland FC followers deserve a rewarding trip to the winners enclosure. However his hold up style needs everything to drop right with even William Buick not managing to conjure up a win on him last term. David Barron employs Robert Winston again who’s also coming in following a couple of  ‘nearly seconds’ on him this term.

The other charge is Keith Dalgleish’s What’s The Story – that stable is well know to our older members with us landing many a decent priced winner out of there 3 years back just when the trainer was becoming established. He’s not an over raced sort who was 4th in this last term and won the Hambleton at York LTO. Joe Fanning misses the ride following his Ripon fall and Paul Mulrennan takes over who notched up his 1000th winner on Camacho Chief this week.

Preference would have to be for the Dalgleish charge – most of the pace appears drawn high on the stands side with the likes of Afaak & Vale Of Kent drawn close by to him

Both are on at 10’s plus and should give a run for the money with a whole host of companies offering 6 paying slots.

Back to our regular members fodder with meetings at Hamilton & Ripon, albeit aside from the last race ‘maiden’ there’s a poor turn out at the latter’s evening show.
