Society Red won yesterday looking like there was more in the tank – we mentioned we expected him to be a player this season in our Ponty Notes when we looked for some EW value about him on seasonal debut. That 2nd to Defoe last summer in receipt of 21 still makes him look good value with that one going from strength to strength?

We’ve a decent looking meet – in terms of our angles, at Thirsk today. In the 16.55 we will be keeping an eye on Jedd O’Keeffe’s Whitkirk who we have backed for a win before. His best performance are over 7f so this 1 miler should blow away the cobwebs. He’s usually to hand early on G/F going – potentially could eek out a place here but the three at the top of the handicap all come ‘race  fit’ and we’ll look to where he goes next.

Another one to watch today – shame this has just gone a 7-runner – Brighton 16.05  with the EJ-H/Charles Bishop pairing and BECCA CAMPBELL – the horse has won on the course and likes undulating or turning tracks like this – winning at Chepstow, Lingfield and placed at Windsor. It looks a decent EW price following a sighter here 2 weeks ago over 10f and one at well over double digit but just those 2 paying paces.

Members notes are below and we’ll be back before 8.00am in the morning with Chester ….as ever, please drop us a line at feedback@always-back-winners.com with any questions…..

2.10 Snellings Conditional Jockeys’ Selling Hurdle (5) 2m3y

Timeform Top Rated:
136 5. TIGER TREK Dr Richard Newland Charlie Hammond (6)
130 1. ASCENDANT Johnny Farrelly Patrick Cowley
126? 3. HATEM Nick Littmoden Fergus Gregory

Analyst’s Verdict:
Tiger Trek and Ascendant appear the pair to focus on, with the former taken to capitalise from a drop-in grade.

2.40 Jarrold Fakenham Ladies Day Sunday 3rd June Handicap Chase (5) 2m5f44y

Timeform Top Rated:
109 7. EASTER IN PARIS Paul Henderson Tom O’Brien
106 8. MIDNIGHT MUSTANG Andrew Martin Charlie Deutsch
105§ 2. HOW ABOUT IT Alexandra Dunn Mr John Smith-Maxwell (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
A chance is taken with Easter In Paris who has slipped to an attractive mark. Midnight Mustang and Millen Dollar Man both merit respect at this lowly level.

3.10 Snellings Maiden Hurdle (4) 2½m1y

Timeform Top Rated:
137 4. HATCHET JACK Paul Henderson Tom O’Brien
130 6. POTTERS HEDGER Lucy Wadham Jack Sherwood (3)
129 1. CHIMES OF DYLAN Neil King Harry Teal (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
This looks tricky but Hatchet Jack is proving very consistent and sets the standard on form. He is taken to gain a deserved victory. Potters Hedger and Chimes of Dylan rate the principal dangers.

3.45 Snellings Norfolk National Handicap Chase (3) 3m5f24y

Timeform Top Rated:
141 2. SET LIST Dan Skelton David England
138 5. WASHED ASHORE Jonjo O’Neill Richie McLernon
134 10. HEDGEINATOR Christian Williams James Bowen (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Having shaped well over hurdles on debut for this yard at Ayr last month, Set List appeals most. He’s entitled to come on for that, has conditions in his favour and the handicapper has given him a real chance. Washed Ashore also made an encouraging return following a break at Doncaster and is a much-respected main danger. Hat-trick seeker Hedgeinator also enters calculations.

4.15 TBA Mares’ Handicap Hurdle (4) 2½m1y

Timeform Top Rated:
128 3. POTTERS MIDNIGHT Lucy Wadham Jack Sherwood (3)
127 2. MARIAH’S LEGEND Amy Murphy Jack Quinlan
127 5. AMRON KALI Paul Henderson Tom O’Brien

Analyst’s Verdict:
Potters Midnight goes well here (dual-course winner) and will appreciate the drop back in grade after her creditable effort in a competitive Haydock handicap last time. She gets the vote. Apache Song is next best.

4.45 Turner Trophy “Grassroots” Hunters’ Chase (6) 3m38y

Timeform Top Rated:
121 3. BOUND FOR GLORY D. M. G. Fitch-Peyton Miss Hannah Lewis (5)
119 1. MASTER WORKMAN David Kemp Mr Dale Peters (7)
119§ 2. TREAT YOURSELF Miss Michelle Bentham Mr Richard Collinson (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Bound For Glory ran a mighty race in the Foxhunters’ at Aintree last month and a repeat of that form should be good enough to take this. Last year’s winner Master Workman is the obvious danger.
