A nice priced winner with ACCLAIM THE NATION doing his usual ‘pillar to post’ for our local handler Eric Alston – we manged 9/1 and hopefully most of you got somewhere near with him returning an SP of 7’s. Shame we couldn’t have paired that with Jedd’s Whitkirk who surprised us from yesterdays notes by coming home in the miler at 7/2 which would have been better than a kick in the slats 🙁 He won really easily and it will be interesting to see what he gets hiked for that?

Today kicks off the start of the Chester Cup meet – the speedmeisters have produced a Full Chester Preview that can be downloaded at that highlighted link. It’s one of our favourite early ‘mini-fests’ though today sees only the 15.00 Boodles Diamond Handicap and the last 17.05 Greenhous Handicap a 4yr + race of any interest.

Aside from that, a C2 Handicap for 3 yo at 15.00 could well go to local handler Tom Dascombe & Richard Kingscote – they have a remarkable record around here and Formidable Kitt could be a good thing for the pairing. Despite traps 1-4 tending to produce the bulk of the winners, he’s handy in 6. A winner first time out last year and been running in group/listed – the  85 rating could be a steal?

Timeform for the meet is below as are members notes – we’ll be back before 8.00am in the morning with more Chester…..as ever, please drop us a line at feedback@always-back-winners.com with any questions…..

1.50 Stellar Group Lily Agnes Conditions Stakes (2) 5f15y
Timeform Rating of previous winners: 112 104 108 104 101 (Avg 106)

Analyst’s Verdict:
There were plenty of positives to be gleaned from No Lippy’s winning debut at Doncaster last month, not least her attitude for the job, and she looks a useful filly in the making. Lihou and Kinks command respect, also.

Timeform Top Rated:
106 5. KINKS Mick Channon Charles Bishop
100p 10. NO LIPPY Mark Johnston P. J. McDonald
96p 9. LIGHT MY FIRE Tom Dascombe

2.25 Arkle Finance Cheshire Oaks (Listed) (1) 1m3f75y
Timeform Rating of previous winners: 110 111 116 114 121 (Avg 114)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Given Aidan O’Brien’s recent record in this race, it’s hard not to be drawn to Magic Wand, who has shaped well in maidens and looks sure to improve. Her pedigree, price tag and fact that she’s Moore’s choice from the yard’s trio are other alluring factors. The 2-y-o maiden Kinaesthesia won isn’t working out particularly well but she is feared nonetheless, along with the promising Award Winning.

Timeform Top Rated:
109 8. PRINCESS YAIZA Gavin Patrick Cromwell Franny Norton
108 2. DRAMATICALLY Aidan O’Brien Seamie Heffernan
102p 6. KINAESTHESIA Ralph Beckett Oisin Murphy

3.00 Boodles Diamond Handicap (2) 5f15y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Looks A Million hasn’t been disgraced in listed company and a mark of 88 looks workable on her first start in a handicap. She showed up well for a long way in a much warmer race at Bath last time and she’s perfectly drawn today. Spoof returned to his best last time, so he should go well at this track and is taken to come second. Showmethedough has potential to improve and is best of the rest.

Timeform Top Rated:
106 4. FORMIDABLE KITT Tom Dascombe Richard Kingscote
105 5. GLOBAL ACADEMY Gay Kelleway Gerald Mosse
105 9. PORCHY PARTY Tom Dascombe Franny Norton

3.35 Centennial Celebration – MBNA Chester Vase Stakes (Group 3) (1) 1½m63y
Timeform Rating of previous winners: 133 130 125 121 125 (Avg 127)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Hunting Horn shaped well when third in Sandown’s Classic Trial last time and is bred to appreciate this stiffer test of stamina. He can supply Aidan O’Brien with his sixth straight victory in this contest. There are plenty of dangers in what looks an ultra-competitive renewal, with Young Rascal, Proschema and Flag of Honour particularly respected.

Timeform Top Rated:
120p 9. PROSCHEMA Tom Dascombe Richard Kingscote
119 5. ISPOLINI Charlie Appleby William Buick
118p 3. FLAG OF HONOUR Aidan O’Brien Seamie

4.05 Deepbridge Capital Maiden Stakes (3) 1¼m70y
Timeform Rating of previous winners: 99 100 96 106 98 (Avg 100)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Argentello seems sure to do even better for John Gosden and can give the yard another win in this maiden. Baritone and Howman are the dangers.

Timeform Top Rated:
98p 1. ARGENTELLO John Gosden Frankie Dettori
94p 2. BARITONE Sir Michael Stoute Ryan Moore
94 9. SOLDIER TO FOLLOW Andrew Balding David Probert

4.35 Eversheds Sutherland Handicap (3) 6f17y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Requinto Dawn looked back to his best at Thirsk last time on soft ground. He may even prefer better ground, and given his low draw, he should take all the beating. His low-drawn rivals look the biggest dangers. Mr Top Hat ran very well in a strong Newbury handicap last time and should go well. The latter’s stablemate Last Page looks best of the rest after a solid effort last time.

Timeform Top Rated:
107 8. NO I’M EASY Tom Dascombe Richard Kingscote
106 12. MARIETTA ROBUSTI Mrs Stella Barclay Rob Hornby
105 11. MONTAGUE David O’Meara C. J. McGovern (5)

5.05 Greenhous Handicap (4) 7f1y

Analyst’s Verdict:
My Amigo ran close to a career best on his first run for this yard at Doncaster 11 days ago and that looks the pick of the form on offer here. He is well drawn and there is every chance he may come on for that run. The Feathered Nest looks the biggest danger if she bounces back to form for an owner that has plenty of winners here. Roll On Rory could spring a surprise and make the frame.

Timeform Top Rated:
107 3. SULTAN BAYBARS David O’Meara Daniel Tudhope
106 9. RIGHT TOUCH Richard Fahey Jack Garritty
105 10. ROLL ON RORY Jason Ward John Egan
