Iain Jardine's Mabel Lee was closing down the winner all the way to the line at Musselburgh and would have won with another 100yds run whilst Dourado eeked out that 4th paying place at Epsom giving us a modicum of profit from yesterday's two selections. That finishes off September and our 6th consecutive month of profit for the flat season with the bank having shifted £730+ northwards through the month with those 4 winners and 15 places!!! A couple more of those converting would have been a lot more welcome but we'll live with that and move on into the last couple of months racing. Read more →
Musselburgh and Epsom today with Timeform for the latter......looking at past selections, we backed Roundabout Magic for a place last month - last run went off too hard and weakened quickly, however despite the 10's on offer has never really done it on ground with cut and a leaver in the Epsom 17.15 for us today. Same can be said of Crosse Fire who goes in the same race and more at home on the AW despite Theodore Ladd being up top.Read more →
Fastar gave us yet another placed effort at Haydock - tbh he looked like he could well have won that with a clear run, 'Behind, headway when short of room over 1f out, kept on same pace final furlong' - we'll take note of his next appearance....and also that little bit of the 10's place money we managed about him. Back to Saturday affairs.....on a day of plenty of C1 & C2 at HQ and Haydock the feature handicap is the Cambridgeshire. Read more →
Dream Today's place ensure it was virtually a stand still day in terms of the bank - Mark Johnston's charge was closing down on the winner staying on well to take second and we'll watch where he goes next. Sheepscar Lad ran down the field at Ponty with his worst race of the season - racing bang on the heels of Hee Haw he had to be snatched back a couple of times during the first half of the race.Read more →
It's a good job we have 'Tigger-like bouncebackability' with the amount of boinging we have been doing during the last month - Eric Alston's Casterbridge was done by a bit of a steamer in Angel Force at Redcar - the winner was backed from around 12's this morning into 4's. Nevertheless, the consolation was a bit more place money added to the fund with a double your money BOG 12/1 paid out and the month's 4 winners to date plus 10 better than wipes yer face places have added nearly £1k to the fighting fund.Read more →
Ahead of the Cambridgeshire meet starting tomorrow we have two meets at Redcar and Goodwood with Timeform for the latter below. At Goodwood there's a few handicaps we could tackle but not a whole load of northern interest down there. One we have backed previously and hovering around a winning mark is Harlequin Striker. Dean Ivory's charge tends to do all his winning from September onwards and ran well enough LTO to think he could challenge. It's a competitive field (16.40) and would be the most valuable race he has won so may be best backed in a C5 if he does ok here.Read more →
A nice quick follow up to Redrosezorro on the weekend with CAMACHO CHIEF coming home for Paula Muir as a highly gambled on 5/2 favourite. Hopefully most of you got hat early price of 6/1 when we went live at 8.00am......it was also nice to name the 2nd horse home Leo Minor - that paid over £30 on the straight forecast for some of you who nibble on those.Read more →
Leicester and Hamilton today with Timeform from the former - previous winner Jacob's Pillow is back out at Hamilton (16.30) and is around wipes yer face 11/2 for a follow up and also at a similar price, Jason Hart on Framley Garth must have a sound chance in the (15.30) seen running on well at York LTO. In the last at Hamilton (17.00), Compass Hill has been running well on the softer surfaces and was noted at Haydock very early in the season and shouldn't be far away.Read more →
After hitting the bar a few times this week REDROSEZORRO was a massive gamble that we were on and he absolutely sluiced up with Theodore Ladd giving a ‘Jason Hart-esque‘ performance on Eric Alston’s charge. We advised at 12’s this morning but there was an option for 9’s with four paying that most of you took but even that disappeared mid-morning ending up at 7/2 joint favourite!Read more →
Boing!!....Kenny The Captain ran another solid race yesterday finishing 4th and added a few more pound to the 'place fund'. There's more Ayr on Saturday with the feature Ayr Gold Cup for which there is Timeform below for the full meeting. We've a couple for members below today....BOL with your betting!Read more →
